Self Awareness/Acceptance

Wikipedia – In Philosophy of self, self awareness is the experience of one’s own personality or individuality. Self awareness is how an individual consciously knows and understands their own character, feelings, motives and emotions.

I think this leads to Self Acceptance.

Self Acceptance is defined by an individuals acceptance of all his/her attributes positive or negative. “It includes body acceptance, self protection from negative criticism and believing in ones own capabilities”. (Harvard Health)

‘There is really nothing to do to be who you are except perhaps to open your eyes right now and see that you have always been what you are searching for.’

Self Acceptance, in my mind, all be it a hard topic, is about just accepting whatever is going on. Don’t fight it whatever it is – pain, unhappiness, negativity, resentment – accept it.

There is loads of information on the internet on the the topic of self love, but I personally find this very hard to handle. Learning to accept myself the way I am is actually quite calming. The books say acceptance is life changing. We’ll see.
